Case Study 4

A single homeless male was referred to BFT by MacKenzie Friends at Beacon Project. The gentleman required immediate help with food and accommodation and was carried out as an emergency case. Upon meeting the gentleman it became apparent that he was suffering from alcoholism and drug abuse. He was reluctant to get help due to the fact that he had no legal status and no form of identification. All these factors made this an extremely challenging case to deal with.  Although BFT initially provided financial help, when the gentleman requested further assistance, the decision was made to supply him with food vouchers to ensure the money was being spent correctly. He was also referred back to his hosting project for further assistance with his legal status and substance abuse.
