Case Study 2

Refugee Action referred a 16 year old boy who had fled Afghanistan. He was in a Home Office hotel accommodation. The decision on his case had been delayed due to a dispute over his age. He had no money for cloth, food or basic essentials. He also was under great mental pressure as he is the eldest son of the family and needed to earn money to send back home to his family. He felt very alone and isolated as his English was also limited. The BFT caseworker spoke to him in his own language and that in itself was such a relief for him. BFT provided him with funds towards clothing, shoes and food as well as pastoral and emotional support.
